Dayum, there have been a lot of games lately. Yeah, I know.. It's that time of year. But still.. They can't expect me to find enough time during the day to play them all?

I've compiled a list of some of my recent game purchases:

Batman Arkham Asylum: Good.
ODST: Good but overpriced
Brutal Legend: Alright, I guess
Borderlands: Awesome
Torchlight: Awesome
Dragon Age: Somewhere between total shit and the best game in the universe.

So... about Dragon Age: Origins. Wow, that game has some terrible graphics. I'm not complaining, I'm just sayin'.

Graphics aside, I REALLY don't know if the game is great or shit yet. It doesn't feel like there is any middle ground with the game. There are times where I'm completely blown away and there are times that leave me wondering what the developers were thinking.
AI War: Fleet Command

I stumbled upon an amazing game last. I'm a big fan of games with interesting concepts that don't typically fit the usual mold. Dwarf fortress is a great example.

The little gem I discovered last night was AI War: Fleet Command. I discovered the demo through Steam.

It works like an RTS but isn't paced so that its an all rush/arms race. No no, each game is a massive campaign that at the low end, is 7 hours and at the upper end, possibly over 15. There can be thousands (anywhere between 30,000 and 90,000) of active ships in the galaxy... And when I say ships, I mean individual units.

The game is great solo but also built to support up to 8 players co-op. It has a hefty learning curve, but all that can be surpassed by watching a few of the developers videos here: http://www.youtube.com/user/x4ooo as well as a few visits to the wiki here: here.

I should also mention that this is an indie game created basically by one person. A fucking amazing indie game.

This is one of those games that you start playing at 8pm and don't even notice what time it is... until you get up to get a Dr Pepper, pass by the microwave, and see it's 4:30 in the morning.
